Aesculus pavia var. pavia, Scarlet Buckeye

A small, deciduous understory tree with stunning red flowers in spring, and glossy, interesting leaves. Sometimes has two leaf drops/emergences a year. Best if placed in a spot where it can be in full view in spring, and less prominent in late summer-perhaps under a large pecan. This variety rarely surpasses 18' in Central Texas, but can possibly go taller. Poisonous if ingested.
